Big music weekend for me, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip late show at Mercury Lounge tonight, and Friction NYC featuring Yeasayer tomorrow night. I have posted about both these acts before (here and here) and expect both shows to be very memorable.

Vampire Weekend, Big Head Todd in 2008

The Sondre Lerche show at Bowery Tuesday night was way cool. Sondre is an amazing talent, he was up there solo and captivated the crowd. Definitely catch him if you can; btw, he composed the entire soundtrack to the new Steve Carrell movie Dan in Real Life (which I want to see real soon).

Dan Wilson put in a great performance as well, his solo work is as strong as his work with Semisonic. I suggested that he sing Secret Smile, he said that's a great idea and that he would play it at Maxwell's. Bummer for me, bonus for others.

I just added two new shows to my schedule for '08: Vampire Weekend 1/29 and Big Head Tood and the Monsters 2/27. I saw Big Head Todd a few years ago at Irving, they always put on a great show and it's a nice fun West-Coast-centric crowd.
